When summer heat sets in, it can affect more than just your comfort. You might feel irritable, sluggish, restless, or simply a little off in your body and mind.

If that sounds familiar, you're not alone.

Hot weather has a way of turning up the intensity. We can feel more drained, more reactive, and less grounded. The good news is that a few simple practices can help you cool down, reset, and feel more like yourself again.

Below are two of my favorite ways to stay cool, calm, and balanced during the hottest days of summer.

1. Cool Yourself from the Inside with Sitali or Sitkari Pranayama

These traditional cooling breath practices are a simple and natural way to release excess heat and calm the nervous system.

In yoga and Ayurveda, they are often used to balance fiery energy, especially when you're feeling overheated, impatient, or mentally foggy.

They are especially helpful in the afternoon, after time in the sun, or anytime you feel that hot, agitated feeling building.

How to practice:

For Sitali Pranayama, slowly inhale as you curl your tongue like a straw, noticing the cool air moving across your tongue. Exhale slowly through your nose or softly through your throat.

If you cannot roll your tongue, practice Sitkari instead. Lightly place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth and inhale through your teeth. Exhale slowly through your nose or softly through your throat.

Let your eyes close or soften your gaze downward. Continue for about 20 repetitions, or until you begin to feel calmer and cooler from the inside out.

When you finish, pause for a moment. Notice how your body feels.

Often there is a sense of clarity, ease, and a quiet return to balance.

2. Refresh and Uplift with Peppermint

Peppermint Essential Oil is one of my favorite summer wellness tools because it is simple, effective, and easy to use in everyday life.

Adding one drop of Peppermint Vitality to your water can help you feel refreshed and more energized, especially during those hot afternoons when your energy starts to dip. An added benefit is that Peppermint may also support healthy digestion, making it a wonderful companion for summer travel, cookouts, and seasonal gatherings.

If you need a quick cool-down, try applying a drop of Peppermint to the back of your neck, temples, or crown of your head. That cooling sensation can feel especially soothing when the heat starts to wear on you.

Another favorite summer ritual is to place a spray bottle of cool water with 1–2 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil in the refrigerator. When the heat begins to build, I mist my face, neck, and arms, and the cooling sensation instantly kicks in.

For an even deeper cool-down, I love adding a few drops of Eucalyptus Globulus Essential Oil to a damp towel, running it under cool water, and draping it around the back of my neck. The fresh, cooling sensation feels incredibly refreshing after spending time outdoors or in the summer heat.

These simple tools can help you stay cool, refreshed, and balanced all season long.

A Little Extra Support for Summer

Summer doesn't have to leave you feeling depleted or overwhelmed.

Simple practices like cooling breath, mindful pauses, and supportive essential oils can help you feel more refreshed, balanced, and resilient throughout the season.

Not all essential oils are created equal. Purity and quality matter, especially when using oils aromatically, topically, or internally.

I choose to use premium-quality essential oils that are carefully sourced and rigorously tested so I can feel confident using them with my family and sharing them with my clients.

If you're curious about the premium-quality Peppermint or Eucalyptus oils mentioned in this post, I'd be happy to answer your questions and help you find the products that best fit your needs. Contact Me Here.

Wishing you a summer filled with balance, refreshment, and plenty of moments to breathe.

My Story | Balance with Adrianne

I used to struggle with anxiety and stress and feel overwhelmed with emotional healing.

Yoga became my starting point—a place where I could slow down, breathe, and begin listening to my body again.

As my practice deepened, I realized that true well-being didn’t end when I stepped off the mat. It extended into everything I was putting in and around my body.

I began to notice how many everyday products—food, beauty items, and household cleaners—were filled with harmful chemicals.

Over time, they quietly disrupted my energy, mood, and overall sense of balance, even though I didn’t fully understand it at first.

A meaningful shift came when I was introduced to a simpler, more compassionate way of understanding my struggle.

Instead of pushing or fixing, I learned to support my nervous system, reduce overwhelm, and create space for healing to unfold naturally.

Today, through Balance with Adrianne, I guide women who long to live more naturally and intentionally. I support them in releasing burnout, reducing toxic load, and realigning with what truly matters.

Through personal yoga, mindset mentoring, and heart-centered rituals, I help women return to balance in body, mind, and energy—naturally and sustainably.

If this resonates with you, I invite you to connect with me.
