Traveling can be exciting, restorative, and sometimes a little overwhelming.
Whether you're heading off for a yoga retreat, workshop, training, or simply taking a much-needed vacation, I love having a few essential oils with me to help create moments of calm, grounding, and balance along the way.
As someone who has practiced and taught yoga for many years, I’ve learned the importance of creating little rituals that help me reconnect with myself—especially when I’m away from my usual routines.
My yoga mat usually comes with me wherever I go. And so do my oils :).
Here are 3 essential oils I love to have on hand when traveling:
1. Lavender
Lavender is one of those versatile oils that I reach for again and again. It’s known as the ‘Swiss Army knife’ of oils
Its soft, calming aroma makes it a lovely companion when you're traveling, especially when you want to create a more peaceful atmosphere or wind down after a busy day.
Try inhaling the aroma directly from the bottle, adding a drop to a personal diffuser, or using it as part of your evening wind-down ritual.
For me, Lavender is a simple reminder to slow down, breathe, and settle in.
2. Peppermint
Peppermint brings a completely different energy.
Its fresh, invigorating aroma can be a welcome pick-me-up when you're feeling tired after a long day of travel. I also enjoy having it nearby when my digestive system feels a little out of its normal routine.
A few deep breaths of the aroma is wonderfully refreshing and gives your energy a boost!
It’s also great for cooling down in the summer heat. Read this blog to Stay Cool, Calm, and Balanced This Summer: Simple Cooling Breath Practices.
3. Frankincense
Frankincense is one of my favorites for creating a sense of grounding and intention.
When you're traveling, your surroundings, schedule, and routine can all change. Taking a few quiet moments with Frankincense can help create a feeling of being centered and connected.
I especially love incorporating it into yoga, meditation, breathwork, or a quiet morning ritual.
One of my favorite ways to use it is simply pausing, taking a breath, and enjoying its aroma before beginning my practice.
It's less about adding another thing to your travel routine and more about creating a moment to come back to yourself.
BONUS: Stress Away™
For something a little more uplifting and comforting, Stress Away™ essential oil blend is wonderful.
It has a sweet, fresh, citrusy aroma, it's a lovely blend to have along for the journey when you want to create a more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Create Your Own Travel Ritual
You don't need to bring your entire essential oil collection with you when you travel.
Choose a few oils that support the experience you're looking to create and make them part of simple rituals throughout your trip.
- Lavender for slowing down
- Peppermint for refreshing and resetting
- Frankincense for grounding and reconnecting
- Stress Away™ for creating a more relaxed atmosphere
As with any essential oil, a little goes a long way. Follow the product directions and dilute appropriately when using oils topically.
Creating space for mindful breaths, familiar aromas, and moments of stillness can help you stay connected, grounded, and centered wherever you are.
Wherever your travels take you, you can create little moments of balance and connection along the way.

My Story | Balance with Adrianne

I used to struggle with anxiety and stress and feel overwhelmed with emotional healing.
Yoga became my starting point—a place where I could slow down, breathe, and begin listening to my body again.
Yoga became my starting point—a place where I could slow down, breathe, and begin listening to my body again.
As my practice deepened, I realized that true well-being didn’t end when I stepped off the mat. It extended into everything I was putting in and around my body.
I began to notice how many everyday products—food, beauty items, and household cleaners—were filled with harmful chemicals.
Over time, they quietly disrupted my energy, mood, and overall sense of balance, even though I didn’t fully understand it at first.
Over time, they quietly disrupted my energy, mood, and overall sense of balance, even though I didn’t fully understand it at first.
A meaningful shift came when I was introduced to a simpler, more compassionate way of understanding my struggle.
Instead of pushing or fixing, I learned to support my nervous system, reduce overwhelm, and create space for healing to unfold naturally.
Today, through Balance with Adrianne, I guide women who long to live more naturally and intentionally. I support them in releasing burnout, reducing toxic load, and realigning with what truly matters.
Through personal yoga, mindset mentoring, and heart-centered rituals, I help women return to balance in body, mind, and energy—naturally and sustainably.
If this resonates with you, I invite you to connect with me.
