Yoga Nidra

I have a deep affinity for the practice and healing power of Yoga Nidra. By practicing Yoga Nidra on a regular basis I received a profound healing and discovered it to be a wonderful gift to share with others. – Adrianne

Yoga Nidra is a simple inviting meditation practice to bring you a deep sense of Peace, Clarity and Tranquility. The intention of Yoga Nidra is towards wholeness.

By practicing Yoga Nidra on a consistent and regular basis you can discover your True Essence. It is an effectAMR_YNive tool to heal, release or inhibit various physical and emotional diseases including stress, pain, cardiovascular, and psychosomatic conditions.

Yoga Nidra means “dynamic yogic sleep”. The state of consciousness where we are in deep “sleep” or deep rest, yet remain awake, aware and attentive.

It is one of the deepest forms of meditation and a profound relaxation process to lead our awareness through all levels of being or koshas from the gross to the subtle layers or sheaths, including physical, energetic, mental, emotional, intuitive and spiritual, towards a state of complete serenity and wholeness.

Your voice is very soothing and the affect was almost hypnotic. It really put me in a relaxed state. Also, I appreciated the educational aspects. I liked the way you explained what yoga nidra is.

If Yoga Nidra was a place where I could live, I will move in right now! In 2009 I had an accident where I suffered a head injury. As a result of the accident I was suffering from very strong headaches and spent night after night without being able to sleep. My doctor prescribed very strong sleeping pills but they were not working.

Its been several years now since I discovered yoga with Adrianne and I can say that her classes, especially Yoga Nidra has brought me back to be a much happier relaxed version of myself. I have not taken any sleeping pills since. Yoga Nidra is like a little piece of heaven in this crazy world that we all live in…Thank you Adrianne for sharing this wonderful practice with us.

Both the Yoga Nidra on Saturday as well as the workshop on Sunday brought me to a more peaceful, calm place than I have been since John died.  It gave me hope that things will get better in time.

Yoga Nidra is the science of relaxation which enables each of us to dive deep into the realms of the subconscious mind, thereby releasing and relaxing mental tensions, and establishing harmony in all facets of our being. – Swami Satyananda Saraswati

Yoga Nidra – The Blissful Relaxation
by Swami Satyannanda Saraswati

Most people sleep without resolving their tensions,
This is termed nidra.
Nidra means sleep, no matter what or why.
But Yoga Nidra means sleep after throwing off the burdens,
It is a blissful, higher quality altogether.

When awareness is separate and distinct from the vrittis,
When waking, dream and deep sleep pass like clouds,
Yet awareness of atma remains
This is the experience of total relaxation.

Relaxation does not mean sleep.
Relaxation means to be blissfully happy,
It has no end.
I call this bliss absolute relaxation;
Sleep is a different matter.
Sleep gives only mind and sense relaxation.
Bliss relaxes the atma, the inner self;
That is why, in tantra,
Yoga nidra is the doorway to Samadhi.
